It was probably a bad sign for UH-Hilo’s volleyball team when Randi Hunter hit a sublime .856 with six kills Friday night in a first set the Vulcans ended up losing.

Hunter started to lose a little steam from there, and the Vulcans lost there way, falling 25-19, 25-23, 23-25, 25-19 to Biola University at their gym.

Kiley Davis also stood out UH-Hilo (4-7, 1-4 Pacific West Conference), putting down consecutive kills to extend the match to a fourth set, but the Eagles (8-4, 2-2) never trailed thereafter, keeping the Vulcans from their first five-setter of the season.

UH-Hilo makes a quick turnaround at 2 p.m. Point Loma looking to salvage a homestand before hitting the road again.

Hunter finished with 12 kills (nine in games 1-2) on 36 swings, while Davis added nine kills while hitting .333 to go along with nine blocks.

Brooke Watts led the Eagles with 13 kills and Karly Dantuma added 11. Biola hit .120 while UH-Hilo managed just .074.

Mina Grant (15) and Sauni Basia (13) reached double digits in digs, but the Vuls were outdug 73-53.
